We are a federal correctional institution that provides medical and mental health services to over 1,500 inmates of various security levels. We offer a range of services, including primary care, specialty care, dental care, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and more. We operate in a secure and safe environment, with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

As a gastroenterologist, you will be responsible for:

Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the digestive system, such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, and more

Treating conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and more

Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as labs, imaging, breath tests, and more

Prescribing and monitoring medications and treatments, such as antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, immunosuppressants, and more

Referring inmates to appropriate specialists and consultants when needed

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, such as nurses, pharmacists, surgeons, and more

Maintaining accurate and timely documentation and records

Participating in quality improvement and continuing education activities

To apply for this position, you must have:

A MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

A valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or district of the United States

A board certification in gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine or equivalent1

A DEA registration and eligibility to prescribe controlled substances

A minimum of one year of experience in gastroenterology, preferably in a correctional setting

A strong clinical and ethical judgment and excellent communication skills

A commitment to cultural competence and diversity

A willingness to relocate to any government facility in the United States or its territories
