Psychiatrist to provide services to the inmate population FCI Waseca. Services will be performed at the Federal Correctional Institution, 1000 University Drive SW, Waseca, MN, 56093, in the Health Services Department. FCI Waseca is a Medical Care Level 2, and Mental Health Care Level 3 female facility, housing approximately 800 low-security female offenders.

Hours and schedule
Provide eight (1) hour sessions per day, 4 days per week, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 7:30 – 16:00 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Psychiatrist Physician shall not normally exceed 32 hours per week.
Education and Experience
The Psychiatrist shall have current certification in their chosen field of expertise that permits them to practice and to perform Psychiatric Services in any United State or territory for the duration of the contract. The Psychiatrist shall have obtained a doctorate degree of medicine, and a residency, or fellowship in psychiatry, be licensed to practice medicine in at least one of the United States, be board certified, and be otherwise qualified/certified to perform the required service. One year of experience in a correctional environment is preferred, but not required. The Psychiatrist must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. The Psychiatrist must provide proof they meet all qualifications. The candidate’s name and qualifications must be submitted at the time the quote is submitted. The Psychiatrist must submit a resume and photocopies of documents evidencing psychiatric education, license, CPR certification and clinical competency.
The Psychiatrist will provide Psychiatric services which conform to all Local, State, and Federal laws and regulations applicable to the delivery of psychiatric care to members of the general public. The Psychiatrist will also conform to all BOP policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines as applicable to Psychiatric services.
Description of Duties
All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of a Psychiatrist, and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The Psychiatrist shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. The Psychiatrist performance shall be monitored by the Correctional officials. The Psychiatrist must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
The Psychiatrist shall perform Psychiatric services which will include, but is not limited to the following:
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, and make referral and treatment recommendations
• Prescribe pharmaceutical drugs that are listed in the approved Bureau of Prisons (BOP) formulary
Patient Management
The Psychiatrist will be responsible for receiving patients and explaining procedures to alleviate undue anxiety, submitting reports and evaluations as requested. The Psychiatrist will be responsible for following directives and comply with Bureau of Prisons policy, local institutional mandates, and the Psychology Department’s policies in the management of all patient encounters.
Patients shall be afforded impartial access to treatment or accommodations that are available or medically indicated, regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, or religion. Staffing shall be commensurate with the expected needs of the patients and within the scope of services offered. The Psychiatrist shall NOT provide information to the inmates(s). If the situation arises where inmate(s) are required to be provided information, the Chief Psychologist shall provide any information the inmate(s) are to receive. The Psychiatrist is required to maintain an open line of communication with the Chief Psychologist.
