Orthopedic Surgeon Responsibilities
The selected candidate will follow established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department and the profession. Each Orthopedic surgeon functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff. Basic responsibilities will include delivering the best possible orthopedic care to our Veteran patients. Participating in and/or managing all aspects of a general orthopedic program to include clinical, administrative, and academic components. Participating in and/or managing a broad range of orthopedic surgery practice. This encompasses all areas of general orthopedic and musculoskeletal surgery including major joint reconstructive services. Performing surgery and provide pre-op and post-op care as indicated for major and minor procedures, as well as orthopedic consultation for inpatients and outpatients. Maintaining good diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen. Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) in accordance with facility policy. Serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested. Teaching colleagues, residents, medical and nursing students, other ancillary staff. Participating in a shared rotation of night and weekend on-call coverage.
